Shed That Last Ten Pounds: 5 Ways to Break a Weight Plateau

Breaking through the dreaded “weight plateau” can be excruciatingly difficult for many people who are trying desperately to reach their goal weight. Cutting out yet another food group is emotionally trying and unhealthy, and exercising another hour per day is just downright exhausting. Hitting your body hard with these methods will not stick for long, no matter how dedicated you are, as your brain will literally work against you. The “animal brain” is the part of our brain that is survivalist; when a very intelligent man or woman who is on a strict diet binges uncontrollably and ends up confused and frustrated, it’s simply a primal urge that almost forces you into behavior like bingeing. Rather than trigger your animal brain in this manner, we want to support and cleanse your body of what it no longer needs and nourish it without awakening the animal. Here are a few ways that will help you to lose the weight in a comfortable and healthy way:
5 Switch your Carbs
Sometimes we do need a little kick-start in the carb department. If you are stuck on bread, potatoes, and crackers and cannot imagine your meal without them, your body is calling for carbs. Let’s switch the grainy products out for others like fruit, sweet potatoes, and vegetables of all kinds, and keep the oats, quinoa, millet, brown rice, whole wheat products, and sprouted grain breads to before 3 p.m. to give your body a rest from the starches in way that will not shock your body or mind.
Exercise is obviously very important! Get up and go for a run or walk after your apple cider vinegar drink, then start your day, keeping in mind to move more throughout the day. Studies show that people who are told to exercise 30 minutes rather than 60 will always lose more weight, as they make sure to move more during the rest of the day, rather than the others who keep their movement to that one hour. Keep moving, and have fun doing it. No need to kickbox if you hate kickboxing – dance if you like! Walk rather than do yoga, spin like a whirling dervish if that’s what will make you move! As Mirielle Guillamo so perfectly makes a point of in her book “French Women Don’t Get Fat,” French women don’t live in their workout clothes like many American women do. They simply walk and cycle everywhere while enjoying their wonderful French fare.
3 Try an Infrared Sauna
Infrared saunas assist the body in losing weight by permeating the cells on a different level than regular dry or steam saunas. Using the same kinds of waves as the sun (not UVAs, mind you), it is much more comfortable; you will find yourself sweating profusely, though not in the same way as you would a dry sauna. Infrared saunas help the body release harmful toxins, and coupling a sauna session with colon hydrotherapy and juices will have you walking on air!
2 Colon Cleanse
Colon cleansing may sound intrusive and alarming, but it is something that most of us need, considering the low-fiber, intestine-clogging foods many of us consume (bread/crackers/pasta etc.). Cleansing the colon will help you lose pounds of stagnant waste that adheres to the intestinal wall, widening our midsection and causing digestive distress and the inability to lose weight. Look into food combining, enemas, colon hydrotherapy (gravity method, never pressurized), and juicing books for extra help and tips.
1 Drink Apple Cider Vinegar
Apple cider vinegar is an excellent alkalizing drink that is made from fermenting apple juice. It has many health benefits, including weight loss, appetite regulation, blood sugar regulation, decreased water retention, and increased digestive ability. Drinking one or two teaspoons before a meal is a good idea, or you can mix two tablespoons in a glass of water or fresh juice in the morning with a sprinkle of cinnamon. Not only will apple cider vinegar benefit your weight, it will increase your health in general.
